Nourishing Nettle Infusion
A gentle, mineral-rich infusion to support digestion, allergies, and seasonal transitions—especially helpful if you're managing Alpha-Gal Syndrome this spring.
Spring can bring a lot of relief—warmer days, fresh greens, more time outside—but if you’re living with Alpha-Gal Syndrome, it can also stir up a wave of seasonal symptoms: flare-ups from hidden ingredients, histamine overload, and the kind of tired that doesn’t quite lift.
This nourishing infusion is designed to support your body as it shifts into the season. Nettle helps modulate histamine and offers a mineral-rich foundation. Red clover is gently lymph-moving and traditionally used to support skin and hormonal balance. Calendula offers anti-inflammatory and gut-soothing properties. And marshmallow root—always underrated—is here to calm irritated tissues, especially in the digestive tract.
Together, they create a mineral-rich, mildly sweet infusion that can be sipped warm or cold throughout the day—supporting you from the inside out as you settle into spring.
Makes 4 cups.
Ingredients
1/2 cup nettle leaves
1/4 cup red clover flowers
1/4 cup calendula flowers
1 tablespoon marshmallow root
2 tablespoons peppermint leaves
Instructions
Combine all herbs in a bowl and divide evenly between 2 quart-sized jars, fill with just boiled water, cap lightly (I just use the round disk insert that comes as part of Ball jar lids).
Infuse on the counter for 30 minutes before refrigerating for 8 hours or overnight.
Strain and compost the plant matter.
Note: The moistening action of marshmallow root activates in cold water but if you prefer to drink room temp or warm beverages you can gently reheat the tea without damaging any of the demulcent constituents.
